From Merry-Lee’s Tutorial-
The Hirosawa H-28A is the most spectacular purple I have ever seen but it is quite the Diva and difficult to bring out the Goddess in her. Our working title for this tutorial was Taming of the Shrew. With a good understanding of this amazing enamel and some sound preparation, you will be able to get a successful result with this elusive purple. I am also introducing H-28B (Bluish purple, silver sensitive) which is equally tricky but can be handled in exactly the same way for successful results.
First you will want to prepare a blank as described in the Perfect Silver Blank Mini Workshop. It is free in the Online Classroom. And then fire in wire partitions. I used both Gold and Silver wires for this tutorial. The Gold for my own use as I generally use gold wire in my work. You needn't use your expensive gold wire for doing a test sample. I also am using silver wires because I want to illustrate that the silver wires are not as problematic against a silver sensitive color as you might think. (The exception is when you have a very tiny cell with a silver wire and a silver sensitive color as the enamel will discolor from the wire in.)
I have laid out my buffer enamels as follows. On the bottom cells, I am not adding any additional buffer but leaving the thin layer of G110 only. I am doing this primarily to illustrate the necessity of an additional layer of enamel to protect the Diva from the interaction with the silver. Fire this layer for 2minutes at 1400 degrees. it will not be quite mature.
